The Pillar

Judiciary is one of the main pillars of India, the largest democracy in the world. A strong and independent judiciary is indispensable for upholding the democratic values and keeping a vigilant eye on the administration of justice. The institution of judiciary  is meant to act as a brake on the tendency of those in power to act in a manner detrimental to the interests of the citizens. The credibility of the judiciary is of paramount importance in our democratic set up.  

The developments on January 12th, 2018 are very unfortunate. It should not have happened. All those responsible should have taken pains to prevent such a situation. The solution has to come from within the four walls of the country's apex court. Or else, the nation would look forward to the dissent getting tackled and resolved by the constitutional authority, i. e. the President acting, taking the Parliament into confidence, in an amicable manner.
